Wirkmechanismus
Albendazol ist ein 5-propylthio-Derivat des Mebendazols.
Wie Mebendazol:
bindet im Wurm an Tubulin und hemmt die Tubulinpolymerisation
=> Organstrukturen des Wurms degenerieren
=> Störung der Glukoseaufnahme, Motilität und Reproduktion
Pharmakokinetik
Prodrug: der aktive Metabolit ist das Sulfoxid
Geringe orale Bioverfügbarkeit
Elimination faecal und renal
Indikation
Echinokokkose = Befall mit Hunde- oder Fuchsbandwurm (Mittel der 1. Wahl, auch präoperativ)
Trichinose (Mittel der 1. Wahl)
Nebenwirkungen
Kopfschmerz
Transaminaseanstieg
Gastrointestinale Störungen

Albendazol ist ein 5-propylthio-Derivat des Mebendazols.
Zur Therapie von Echinokokkosen ist die Einnahme mit fettreicher Nahrung erforderlich (steigert die enterale Resorption).
